Every day at Ripley County Humane Society, we care for animals who have nowhere else to go. Some arrive sick or scared. Some have never known a gentle touch. All of them are waiting for someone to see them, love them, and believe they matter.

This work is only possible because of people like you.

Volunteers are not just helpers—they’re lifelines. They walk nervous dogs who are learning to trust again. They clean spaces so animals stay healthy. They take photos that help pets get adopted. They greet visitors with warmth, fix broken fences, and keep our website updated so the community can stay connected. Some do this in person, others from home. Some give a few hours a week. Others step in when they can.

But what unites all our volunteers is this: they care. And because they care, animals heal, families grow, and lives change.

You don’t need special training. You don’t need a huge block of time. You just need a heart that’s willing and a desire to help. We’ll guide you, support you, and match you with the kind of tasks that suit your interests and schedule—whether you love animals, organizing, tech, gardening, creating, or simply doing good.

The truth is, we can’t do this without you. The animals in our care rely on us for everything—and we rely on volunteers to make that care possible.
