While our shelter works hard to provide every animal with a clean, safe place to stay, nothing compares to the comfort of a real home. That’s where our foster families come in. Some pets need time to heal, grow, or adjust before they’re ready for adoption, and fostering gives them the chance to do just that.
Fostering opens up space in the shelter and gives a dog or cat a quiet place to rest, recover, and prepare for their forever home. Whether you take in a pet for just a few days or a few weeks, the difference you make is huge.
Common foster cases
We rely on foster volunteers to care for pets who need a little extra help, such as:

The foster process
Step 1: Submit your application
Start by filling out our foster application. We’ll walk you through what to expect and help answer your questions.
Step 2: Choose a pet to foster
We’ll show you which animals currently need foster care so you can choose one that fits your home and comfort level.
Step 3: Welcome your foster pet
Once you’re matched, bring your foster pet home and begin your journey. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
Step 4: Help them find a forever home
When the pet is ready for adoption, we’ll work with you to help find the right match. You’ll play an important role in preparing them for that next chapter.
Can you foster if you work full-time?
Yes. Many of our foster families have full-time jobs. As long as the pet has a safe space and receives daily care and attention, your schedule can still work.
What if I want to adopt my foster pet?
You’ll often have the first chance to adopt if you fall in love. If you know someone who’s interested, we encourage you to help make the match.
